We have developed a new mobile app with an augmented reality game at the National Botanical Garden’s Environmental Education Center “Botania”. It will allow visitors to discover hidden 3D models of plants and insects with fascinating stories throughout the garden.

The walking trail features 20 points: 13 stories in outdoor exhibitions, 6 stories in greenhouse halls, and the legend of “Botania’s” curious mouse near the walnut tree by the center’s entrance. The free “Botania” app is available on Google Play and App Store in both Latvian and English.

To find the hidden stories:

  • View the map in the app and locate stands with images in the garden
  • Scan the image to see the 3D model
  • Click on the number in the map to learn more

You can start the game from any point, and it can take up to an hour and a half or longer. While searching for acorns, ladybugs, magnolias, cuckoo wasps, and the superpowers of 16 other garden inhabitants, time will fly by. The garden changes daily – something blooms here, ripens seeds there, or buds elsewhere.

“Botania” invites you to the garden! Come and enjoy a new experience that’s perfect for solo walks, family and friend gatherings, or romantic dates.
